Thrift find and Storms

We've been hunting for vintage lawn and/or patio furniture.  We've scoured several Thrift Stores, Antique Malls, Junkers, etc.  No luck.  But I did find this little jewel.  A morel mushroom print for the playroom. 

Since we've been back from a visit to Great-Grandma's we've had nothing but storms.  AND a near-miss with that nasty tornado.  N spent many hours getting water out of the garage.  I've had my hands full with a wet basement and power outages.  I'm washing up a ton of things that have gotten wet and funky.  It's about time to make up a new batch of homemade laundry detergent!  I'm not too upset.  Spring cleaning was on my "to-do" list anyway.

"I princess"

Though we have avoided the dreaded Disney princess franchise, princesses still pop up in our books and stories.  So for the first time today I heard this phrase: "I princess".  Complete with crown and wand and dancing around.  After she got dressed she even tried on some fairy princess wings. 

A week ago...

Last Monday it was April and the sun was shining and the air was hot.  We decided to cool down with a dip in the plastic pool. 

First we scrubbed it, then we filled it.  Then they dumped it.  Oh well, at least it got cleaned for the season and they splashed for a few moments. 

S didn't want her picture taken, she kept running away.  Of course, now it's too cold for this. 

Will Spring ever return???

Mud

These photos were taken last Sunday (nearly a whole week ago) and as I type this it's 36 degrees outside.  My what a strange Spring we are having!

Play kitchen...

So the kids love the dollhouse.  (Missed that post?  Find it here.) 

And I almost didn't buy her play kitchen, and then I changed my mind.  The kids just don't play with the one they have, it's too tall for my petite loves.  This one is just right!

It needs a little cleaning up and some beeswax polish, but it's a hit with both...

Just had to share love.  This is how I found them before I crawled into bed...

And the flash nearly woke her up, so I tried one more photo before figuring I'd pushed my luck. 

Picking out clothes

One way we can give children a feeling of control over their lives is by letting them pick out their own clothes.  And what wonderful combinations my S comes up with.  I tried to get a shot of this outfit, but I could never get it quite right.  She's still cute, so I'll share.
