Birthday Party!

Though I was a bit behind on my tasks when folks started to arrive, it was still probably the best birthday party I've ever had.  It was a blast!  I was too busy enjoying myself to get many pictures, but I did get a couple of the cake my friend Ivona made.

Four years ago today, we welcomed a sweet, sensitive, amazing little man into our lives.

We are truely blessed that he chose us to be his parents!

Pumpkin Patch

Totally worth the money spent to enjoy a BEAUTIFUL (73 degree) fall day.  But we got our pumkins at Aldi's thank you very much!

Pumpkin muffins

One more thing I miss about Trader Joe's, the pumpkin muffin mix.  Hands down, it is the BEST EVER.  It tastes like scratch and is super moist.  We tried something similar, but it wasn't quite as good.  Oh well, they still have fun baking!

Autumn Nature Table

I haven't attempted a nature table in a long time. Mostly because S has been into everything and has rough hands for such a sweet little girl. But now that she's nearing two and isn't putting anything in her mouth, I thought it might be time to try again. Up until now, the little wooden cabinet has held books and not much else. So, I kept the idea of displaying books, but also added all our fun fall finds and characters.

About the books: Hurry, Hurry, Mary Dear by N.M. Bodecker is my favorite fall book. Woody, Hazel and Little Pip is a hit with R. S is still only really interested in her Bright Baby books. Oh well, she'll come along eventually. The other book is called Deep in the Forest by Brinton Turkle (it's a wordless variation on Goldielocks). We've read so very many books from the library, I've lost count. I'll try to mention favorites from time to time.

Halloween Swap back!

I received these (bad photo alert)...

One day of the dead felt face, three upcycled wool leaves, one needle felted bat (hard to see in this picture), one sewn pumpkin, and a rune set in a cute tin. 

I have to say, not nearly as "Halloweeny" as I expected.  But overall really cute and it has given me a fabulous idea of what to make S for Christmas. 

Now, off to work out birthday details.  My boy is rapidly approaching 4, don't cha know!

Wedding

My cousin was married on Wednesday.  It was a lovely little wedding in a beautiful chapel.  The reception was large and they were surrounded by so much love!

This last one was taken by my other cousin on his phone.  Turned out pretty cute.  Since no one around here ever takes pictures of me, I'm just happy to have one.  :)

Wedding clothes...

I have been searching and searching for clothes for R to wear to my cousin's wedding.  Well, I got a bit derailed by the stomach flu, but I digress.

There really aren't a lot of stores here in town.  I tried JC Penny and they told me to go to The Walmarts (my least favorite store) and both places had dress clothes for boys (okay two to three choices) but they start at size 4.  My skinny-mini, petite boy just barely fits into a 3T. 

So I looked on line (expidited shipping rates cost more than the clothes).  Then I began to mentally prepare to take the children to the next largest city and brave the mall (shudder). 

And it then it hit me.  Try my old dear friend, the thrift store.  It took two stops, but I found what we needed.  In the right color and size.  Amazing. 

Saved by thrift!

Hmmm, now what am I going to wear???
