We’ve had a busy week and weekend. Yesterday we raked/dethatched the front yard and installed the new front light. It looks awesome. Nico wanted to put down grass seed, but I thought it might be too early. I’m glad we didn’t because it snowed tonight. Not a lot, but enough to accumulate a light dusting.
After our yard work we put Ronin in the Baby Bjorn and went shopping for a new floor lamp. While at the cool modern furniture store in Downtown Royal Oak (our second stop) we noticed a floor model coffee table on sale. We both liked it and we needed one so we came home with a floor lamp and a coffee table.
Today we went to church. I went to Target and Nico called me to come home because Roni was inconsolable. He’s been that way the last few days for a couple hours each afternoon. Once I got home, I fed him and he was fine. Which reminds me, he’s eating solid foods now! We started with oatmeal and moved on to apples. Tonight he tried sweet potatoes and he’s liked them the best so far. I give him the same food for at least three days so that we can detect any food allergies. Not that either of us has any food allergies, but it’s what all the books say to do.
Anywho, Nico went to hang out with some car guys and Ronin and I stayed home. After our dinner, I playing with Ronin and he kept biting my chin. So, I put my finger in his mouth to let him bite that instead and this little razor-sharp thing assaulted my finger. He has not one, but two bottom teeth just barely poking through the surface. They are super sharp like puppy teeth. Yikes! I guess that’s why he was crying for Nico this afternoon.
I’ll post more when I’m not so tired. Off to bed. Our love to all.

Sunday, March 22, 2009
Well another weekend has come and gone. We didn’t get much accomplished this time around. Ronin and I went to another Mother to Mother sale on Saturday. Nico went to check out car cruises on Woodword Avenue (the big main drag). There are plenty of “car dudes” up here.
Today we slept in a little and went to the later church service. Then we stopped by a lighting store and ordered a new exterior light for the front of the house. We have already installed new numbers, mailbox, and doorbell. Now the front just needs a good powerwash and for the landscaping to reappear. The old homeowner hadn’t heard of evergreens, so all I have is perennials.
We do have a lone crocus that came up in the back. I wonder what other pleasant surprises spring will bring.

Parade fun for whole family.
We had fun, just as I suspected. It wasn't a large parade but it was warm enough to get out of the house and Ronin and Nico enjoyed themselves. Here are the pictures.

Root canal and upcoming St. Patty's Day Parade
I’m recovering from Monday evening’s root canal. It honestly wasn’t as bad as I had anticipated. Tonight I feel a little pain, but not enough to even bother taking a Tylenol.
Yesterday Ronin and I tried out Baby and Me Yoga. We had a really nice time and I think that we may actually join the class. It was fun to do and I got a little bit of a workout in the process.
Nico’s still worried about his job. They are going to do another round of layoffs soon. We should know something (either way) in a week or two. We are trying to stay positive.
Saturday we are planning to go to the Royal Oak St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Hopefully we can get some good shots of our little Celtic jewel.
That’s about it for now. E-mail us anytime.

M2M sales and Autorama
This weekend went by way too fast. I went to a Mother to Mother sale yesterday and got some clothes for Ronin, a book, a toy, a lamp for his room and an exersaucer. He’s still a little to small for the exersaucer, but he should like it as he gets a little bigger.
Last night Nico went to the Autorama, which is some sort of car show. He seemed to enjoy himself. He didn’t get home ‘til almost midnight. With his late arrival and the time change, we skipped church today. We’ll get back on the wagon next week.
It’s rained hard all day. Neither one of us was very motivated, so we didn’t get much accomplished.
Tomorrow is my root canal. Yay.
Here are some pictures of Ronin at the park.
Us after our Friday walk.

Busy few days
Thursdays and Fridays seem to be pretty busy for Ronin and I. Yesterday we went to our parenting group in the morning and learned all about starting babies on food. Needless to say, Roni is not ready to start solids. He’s probably close, but not there yet. Here he is with all of his “ladies”.
After our parenting group, we met some of the MOM’s clubbers for tea/cookies at a Ferndale bakery before heading to the zoo. We spent some time checking out a photography exhibit at the zoo, but we didn’t see any animals. Next time we’ll plan to go when we have more than 45 minutes until the zoo closes.
Today we hung out with a MOM’s club friend and her son. We went to a park and then to Whole Foods. I got a couple cute pictures of Ronin in the baby swing that I’ll have to post up once I unload it off of the camera.
After dinner tonight, Nico and I took Ronin for a long walk. He totally passed out in the Baby Bjorn. We had to take advantage of today’s awesome weather (60 degrees).

The best baby in the world
We officially have the best baby in the world. Tonight, I put him down for bed at 8:00 p.m. I rocked him for a few minutes, put in the pacifier, tucked him in and left the room. When I checked on him 5 minutes later, he was still awake but quiet. After another 5 minutes he was out. No crying what-so-ever. Whoever said they have to “cry it out” wasn’t dealing with the magnificent Ronin.
Ronin and I are on a mission to find every free, baby friendly activity in this city. Today we hung out at the library for several hours with a friend (which might explain why he went down so easily). Our local library is pretty nice, but not as baby friendly as I had hoped. Once it warms up more opportunities should pop up. As it goes now, we are getting out of the house about 4 days per week if not more.
Nico went to the Dentist today. He’s gonna need some work, but no new cavities. I go in for a root canal next week. Yay. Once again, gotta use up that good GM insurance.

Glasses and Welcome Walt Whiteman
Well we had a pretty exciting weekend (for us). We picked up our new glasses on Saturday. That’s right I said “our”. You can now count Nico among the visually challenged (and now corrected). Here is a picture of us in our cute new frames. (We have to use up that good GM insurance just-in-case).
On Sunday we went to church and then we went to pick up Walt Whiteman. He’s a beautiful 1985 Scirocco (there goes most of our tax return). He’s apparently the nicer version of Nico’s current ride, Roxanne (also a 1985).

Today, Ronin and I went to one of our MOM’s Club events. We learned about singing and using music with the children/babies. It was fun, but a little overwhelming for Roni. He had a minor meltdown right before we left. Of course, it could have been my singing…
