Baby's growin’ like a weed

Today was Ronin’s 4 month doctor’s visit. He weighs just over 14 lbs. and he was 25 inches long. Yep, he’s growin’ like a weed.

Bye Bye Weekend

Another weekend is over. Where does the time go?

Well we only had about 4 inches of snow, but who’s counting.

We all went to church today. We’re checking out the Birmingham Unitarian Church, mainly because I want to go. Nico’s not as excited about this new adventure as I am. However, he does agree with me on the importance of spirituality in Ronin’s life. Besides, it’s good for us to meet people and start building our social network.

Ronin was so good during the service. We left a little early because he started to fuss. Then we went and had brunch. He was extremely good at the restaurant. I think that it was really good for Nico to see that we can take Roni into public. After a X-mas debacle at Macy’s (i.e. colic), Nico’s not wanted to go out for any reason with the baby. Now I think he’ll feel more comfortable.

Nico also checked out a new Scirocco today. We may be taking “Walt Whiteman” home. Why do VW enthusiasts name their cars?

Nothing much going on up here. We are just weathering the blizzard.

Enjoy the pictures.

Ronin is one busy baby.

The last two days have been busy for Ronin and I. Yesterday we went to our parenting group and today we went to a MOM’s Club date at the Nature Center.

Our parenting group is organized by the hospital where he was born. All the moms live in the same general area and delivered around the same time. The first half of each meeting we have an information session and/or an activity and the second half is social hour. Yesterday our informative activity was baby massage. Ronin really liked his massage and the oil was nice on his super dry skin. Here are a few pictures of him and his little girlfriend, Avery.

Today at the Nature Center we checked out some turtles, frogs, and snakes. Mainly we had social time with the other Moms. Afterwards we went to lunch with two other moms and their babies. Ronin was awesome both at the Nature Center and at our nice sit-down lunch. I can’t believe how lucky I am to have such an easy going baby.

I’m glad that we got out of the house when we could. It’s supposed to snow 5 to 8 inches in the next 24 hours. Have I mentioned that I’m sick of snow? Just last weekend I talked Nico out of putting his snow tires on his car. I was like, “how much more snow can be left this year?” Apparently a lot. I don’t know why he would listen to me about a car subject, but he did.

He went and bought nice snow tires a few weeks ago, but since he only has one set of wheels it’s kind of a drag to switch them on and off. I think that he’s going to go check out a used set of wheels this weekend.
More later...

Pictures from last night

Here are a couple pictures from last night's getting ready for bedtime...
Here's Ronin on the changing table. The CFL bulbs make everything yellow.

Here we are together.

You can see my new haircut. I kinda like it.

Trader Joe's and snow.

Greetings family and friends. Not much to report on today. Nico went to work as usual. Ronin and I took a brief jaunt out into public, but really didn’t do much.

I did go to Trader Joe’s tonight for a few items. I love Trader Joe’s, it’s mostly organic and natural foods at discount prices. No frills and no fancy extras, just the basics. If you have one near you I highly recommend it. They have these mini peanut butter cups that we are addicted to. Oh and we’re getting fat. Sigh. We’re going to have to give up those mini pb cups. The also have this stuff called Chimichuri and it's a frozen bag of cilatro-y rice goodness. Try it, you'll like it.

Once the weather warms up, we plan to start working in our yard and taking regular walks. Right now it’s just too cold and miserable. And we are expecting more snow tonight. Ugh.

I also have a spiffy new haircut. I'll have to snap a picture of myself. Nico goes in for his haircut tomorrow. He really needs it. :)
